Veriha does require you to sign a one year contract. Nick Strimbu seems like a decent outfit. They are a union shop (Teamsters). They do Flatbed (mostly haul steel and their flatbedders get weekends at home) and Reefer. What discouraged me is they require new drivers to go Flatbed before they can transfer over to the Reefer side. Their HR Director started as a company driver and still occasionally takes loads. She seemed like a straight shooter.

Crete Shaffer has a PA Reginal. just coming out of school you'll do 2 months with a trainer . they split it up 30 days home time and then the last 30 days. that was a couple of years ago. I don't think it changed though.

can always try Air ground xpress. they hired me out of school. the pay is great, but it's a lot of air freight in and out of places like jfk, ewr, phl, and iad. though their altoona terminal does a ton of flatbed work. all their trucks are new autoshifts. I'd still be working there if I didn't get completely burned out by doing the same route over and over again for 5 yrs

Another AGX vet here. I worked there 19 years before retiring. A good place to work as far as I'm concerned.
I'm guessing this is Brian. I realize this post is a few months old, but are you still at TA? By the way, this Tom Mc, Darren's dad.Last edited: Feb 18, 2017

LCL is also near Harrisburg...Elizabethtown I think. Not sure if they take newbies or not. I'm thinking about calling the guy back myself actually.

Pulling air freight out of JFK is about as awful as it gets. Been there done that.

Nah, its not as bad as most think. Same customers all the time, into the airport area early morning, before heavy traffic, and out after evening rush. Some of us can tolerate it and others can't. Personally, I rather liked only being gone from the house 30-33 hours at a time, still getting a decent amount of miles plus $ every time I opened the doors. Treated me real good for the 9 or so years I did it.jeff18 Thanks this.

Not true anymore! Run like hell! My husband has been working there over 2 years and that Michele Weik is the most hateful person I have ever come in contact with. She is a former waitress turned driver manager who thinks she runs the entire terminal.Run quickly from this BS!
