No problem. Originally I wanted to go through the community college, but when I approached my friend about teaming with me and she agreed, she did not have the money to pay for training herself. So we decided to go to SWIFT. I don't have any particular problem with staying the year, if necessary, besides the fact that I can't bring my dog. But the way I see it, what I actually agreed to was a year IF I didn't want to pay off the loan. At the point I can afford the $4400 (or whatever is left of the loan), I can also fully follow through with my obligation by just repaying the loan, and go somewhere else. I would only jump ship if it makes financial sense. Meaning the new company would have to pay enough to beat what I'd make with Swift PLUS the cost of paying off the loan.
Options now that school complete/CDL acquired.

But to be a little bit nitpicky, yes the school gave us that same line about "If you jump ship, we'll deny knowing you." But that doesn't really hold water considering I have their certificate of completion in my possession, and once I'm employed by them I'd be able to show income. It seems like just a scare tactic. I don't see other companies being so easily fooled, especially if they already know this is something Swift does. That being said, I completely understand why Swift would do this... it just doesn't really scare me or make any sense to me considering it's so easily disproved. -
I would still be careful about leaving Swift for other reasons, namely the number of trailers and the amount of accounts, terminals and freight they have. Some companies are better than others, but a company could offer you 1.00 per mile and if you're sitting on your butt half the time you really haven't done much better for yourself. Whatever company you go to will have to call Swift for employment verification, which is the law, and Swift can and definitely has refused to give it if a balance is due on the loan. I also paid mine off first chance I got, so I'm with you there. But I'm also not trying to leave Swift.

If that is Swift, then wonderful. I do hear that we will get plenty of miles as team drivers with Swift, so there's a lot to be said for that.

I would stay with Swift and at least finish your contract. Some will disagree but two years would be better. It shows committment and that you all wont be afraid to work. What ever you decide good luck.

There was a former member on here named Injun, she was an O/O a swifty and was very helpful with newbies like your self. Last time I check she was at a different forum, "TheTruckerForum" if my serves me correctly. Maybe @Hammer166 can recall.

Just realized most of her post are still on here. Check out "Injun"

Teams usually get priority while singles will sit, parked at the gate waiting...and watching the teams roll in and out. Good luck

Swift is quite forgiving, as well, to the mistakes that newbies often make early on. The first 6 months OTR with your co'driver will just be a continuum of the learning experience, if not even the first whole year. Trust me on this.
I may get bashed (again) but I've said it before.... you've chosen a great starter company... stay there, for a year, or even two.
Best wishes, ladies~!
ps: you look like my daughter.... redhead; same glasses . . . . *hands off, GUYS!*EZ Money, travelsizegirl, jethro712 and 1 other person Thank this. -
