    I saw something about a rule that says there is oral testing now that can be used instead of urine testing?

    Apparently they are waiting for Laboratories to be certified.

    Does anyone know anything about this?

    So many jokes, but I don't want to make work for the mods.

    Christmas is coming, and I want to be on the good list for once, so I'll refrain.

    I've seen and heard of more companies doing hair samples. Now I learn of oral test some years back. But I haven't heard of trucking companies going to that method.

    Relax, you have another week before Mall Santas are at their posts.
    PS. Avoid the Santas that sound like a hyena going ho ho ho :)

    Actually the trucking companies want to move into the oral swab method because it's much quicker, it's cleaner, it's less invasive, and the results are much more accurate.

    I know this has all been approved, but they don't have any approved Laboratories yet, but they are working on that.

    How will all of this work?

    Are the oral tests for every aspect of testing, or only certain types of tests? For example, pre-employment, random, post accident, suspicion Etc.

    @brian991219

    I was wondering if you had any information about this?

    The FMCSA had been planning to approved oral tests. They still are but are looking at some issues with it.

    Feds aim to fix concerns regarding oral fluid testing

    Oral fluids are approved but on hold until there are at least two certified labs tomtest the specimen. It will work the same as urine with the exception that every collection will be dorect observed as there are no privacy issues with a mouth swab.

    I also expect, since the collection process is easier, that more carriers will have trained and certified collection site at terminals than with urine as it doesn't require a special bathroom setup or any real privacy to collect the samples.

    I figure it will be 12-18 more months before we start seeing it in use.

    If the trucking company chooses to use that, is that for every aspect of testing? Pre-employment, random, post accident, etc?
