It doesn't have anything to do with gender, but for chrissakes man take a look at what you just wrote. :biggrin_25521:

A once over? Would you be giving that 80,000 lb. truck a "once over" if you were driving in your hometown with your family driving around your vehicle? Would you feel comfortable sleeping at night after you rear ended a car after your brakes failed because they were out of adjustment, and that last thing you saw before impact were 3 little heads in the back seat?

I can appreciate your situation, and can appreciate that you dont want to ruffle any feathers before you even get your own truck...

...but you need to start taking responsibility for your own actions. If you aren't doing a pre-trip, then you need to call your DM and tell them. They will do 1 of 2 things...

    1. Tell you to continue...(in which case, do you really want to work for them anyway?...ie CSA 2010)

    2. Or, they will tell you what to do regarding your situation, and they will fix it.

T.D. You know your situation better then we do. You know when to draw the line. Just don't jeopardize your safety or career for this guy. If need be it really isn't that big of a deal to switch trainers. Be safe!

The only thing I can't do without him noticing is pop the hood. Forgive my choice of words. I check my connections and break wear, tires and suchas well. I'm not looking to get ripped on here, and like I said, as we drive literally non stop its hard for me to watch what he does when I'm sleeping for my next run that stats as soon as I can legally.

This guy is no trainer. He's using you for a log book.

And he's not doing a proper PTI. I understand we, as L/Os and O/Os get to know our trucks pretty good and can tell a lot just by listening to it and feeling how it goes down the road. However: this guy has placed himself in a different category by becoming a mentor/trainer. He gave himself the job of seeing to it you do things right...not just quickly. By taking on that responsibility, he should be having you PTI that truck each time you take over and observing you do it until you know what in bloody dickens you're doing.

I'm seeing a larger picture of a bigoted, vocally opinionated jack*** bully who runs over curbs, fences and poles, does not care about the safety of the people inside his truck let alone those around it or those in the company he purports to be a member of and sees the people with the misfortune of him as a trainer as nothing more than dollar signs.

Swift does have real mentors. There are people here with the knowledge and willingness to show you how to do it correctly and safely.

You have come to a crossroad. Straight ahead is the road you are already on. Does it look like it will get better or does it look like it will turn into a squirrel trail and lead you up a tree? To the left is not an option because I won't let you just give up. That bridge is out. To the right is the Driver Services office, where you should be able to address your concerns. Swift is trying to clean up the mentor program. They can't do it if they don't know what's going on.

Gawd! Makes me almost sorry I took that bunk out! I said almost. Remember that shovel and lime in my storage compartment?

Once we hit a denver terminal I'm going to talk to driver services, I think,i just don't want any drama. I don't know what to tell him, or how to go about not causing a huge problem for me in getting out of this situation. I drive mostly nights, and only one back completed. Very little with qualcomm and such. But he said he wants me to"learn to drive the truck before you worry about that stuff"

How far along are you? Are you at least half way done with your "on road training"?

I just want to pop in and say thank you TruckerDragon... I don't have my CDL yet but will be following my husband in schooling and training. I have found this thread VERY informative!! I don't know if I would have been as tolarant as you have been, but I also don't know what I would have done differently. This thread has opened my eyes as to what I 'could be' facing out there. We aren't going with Swift - but there is the 'training' period that we will be going through - so a similar situation could occur. So please 1) don't give up!! 2) keep posting!!
