Definitely the best news I've heard all day!
Truckerdragon... I haven't posted in your threads... but I've been following your "experiences" since starting school. You definitely went through **** with that trainer. I can't imagine anyone training someone just starting out in ANY industry and constantly threaten them with being fired... being thrown out... etc. I constantly train new hires in my company and I would NEVER even think of acting negative in any way to a new hire. The more respect you give someone... the more they grow and better they become.
Early on... I was kind of thinking just put up with that trainer and get through your hours, but when you mentioned he threatened to kill anyone who messed with his career... that was definitely the time to call it quits with him. You handled it with style and maturity... far more maturity than that trainer could ever think of having. Excellent job!
You'll have your own truck before you know it and I bet you even choose to become a trainer. They need people like you!
Good luck my friend and keep posting!

Great news man! I didn't want to be pushy about the situation you were in. I figured you were a pretty smart fellow and would know when to tell your trainer to "kick rocks"! Good move! Now enjoy your driving experience! Isn't a little hotel time every so often just golden?! Kick back man!
just lil me Thanks this. -
TD, thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I'm a newbie and just about to finish up school next week and then off to orientation on the 27th. Hope to be with my trainer by first of the year. I have been worried how to approach prejudice by a trainer and will try to keep my personal life to myself. But hours in a truck, close quarters makes it hard to not learn more about each other. I look forward to hearing about more of your experiences!

The cab of a team truck is a real small world! TD had a worst-case scenario - it could be worse, but my take on it is that these really bad situations are rare.
Yup, there are guys out there who nod their heads up n' down when management asks them if they really want to train - sometimes that means that they really just want some cheap codriver labor. In those situations, learn as much as you can - and realize that it will be over sooner than you might think. However, most trainers really do want to turn out a well trained driver. -
