There is some question on my trainers methods and such so I will describe the day so far.

Today we started around 9 or so, I would have to look at HIS log, as I was told to log myself in the sleeper berth even though about half the time I was in the jump seat.

So, that aside, he drove about 444 miles, and then we switched (I did take a nap during that time for about 2 hours maybe three) put myself on drive line for the first time at about 7:15 and started driving till now (10:15) and he wanted to take a 2 hour nap, cuz he was grouchy after that beign tired and all or something. After his nap he will get back in the jump seat (Where he was during all my driving so far) and I will drive to desitnation, and then, try to park, watch him get pissed off, and do it himself, and then we wait for another load.

As I understand it, he is going to do similar for the majority of my 50 horus and then we are gunna run teams. i know he is gunna run me hard till im off his truck and...I dunno how I feel about that. I dont know much of anything right now except I am frustrated, and tired of hearing how my school botched my training, how 'easy' this is and he cant understand why im messing it up.

He is a good guy, he really is, but man when things dont go right its so stressful, I mean I was ranted at because I could not find the steering adjuster thing with my foot, at night, while driving, and heard about it for about 10-15 miles.

I really....feel under-prepared, over whelmed, and that I am not ready for this, or cant do it. I dont know what to expect from a trainer, this job, or anything, except I am to be attached to his (fast walking) hip no matter where he goes, Im taking immodium 2 pills a day so I dont have to use the restroom, and until JUST now all I had was 1 square of cold pizza, and 12 pringles, and 1 water, right now i just ha a jr bacon cheeseburger. I dunno...all I know is...I dont know.

I just....I know the job can be frustrating, but at night its hard to drive, well beyond goign down the highway, and im so nervious when I try to park and he gets mad and raises his voice and gets 'blown away' by how I 'dont get it ' and stuff.....'straighten it out' can mean so many things for example, in this case he wanted my truck and trailer straight, not the wheel and he got all mad about it, I try to excuse it because he is tired but it does not make me feel any less like #####, many would say "suck it up and be a man" but...well, its hard for me, maybe im too much a puss to do it, or somthing but, it effects me when people are mad at me.

I am sorry to hear you are having such a rough time right now TruckerDragon. I wish I was able to give you some good advice but considering I haven't even started school yet, I have no idea what to tell you so I'll leave that to Gears and Injun and the other vets.

I do want to say thanks for posting both this thread and you first one on school. I have read both of them fully and it has given me some idea of things I might expect to experience as I go through the process of getting my permit, starting school, etc..

Keep your head up, take care, and drive safe!

TD All I can say is that the very start of any new career especially when your out by yourself is very frustrating to say the least. From what I get from your posts is that your trainer isnt THAT bad. Perhaps if you could start with your own outlook of things, maybe things will get better. Example: Instead of saying "I Dont Know" how about saying "I This Is a Temporary Situation and it Will Pass, I Just Need To Be Strong" I really think if you turn your mental state around and start looking towards your situation with a trainer as a positive outlook that things wont be as gloomy. Ignore his grouchyness as perhaps thats just how some people are . Just focus on the big picture and that is that your there for a temporary amount of time untill you learn and then things will get better for yourself.

Remember Positive Thinking Will Yield Positive Results. You Will Not Get Anywhere With Saying I Dont Know...cuz Guess What?? You dont Know... I hope the best for ya cuz IM a rookie just like you are. You'll b okay Hang in there TD

I don't like having to tell myh boyfriend "I have to go" because I know if I keep talking to him im gunna break down and cry, I'll be made fun of, but its worth it, if it prepares some rookies for what they are going to face out here.

I personally went through the swift experience when I first started. It sucked believe me. Just hang in there it will be well worth it. Ask your trainer to clarify his directions. After all you're not a mind reader. One of the most important things I learned about backing when I first started is this. You back the way you feel comfortable. Do not let the trainer walk you through backing up because you will never learn. If he gets mad and takes the wheel then you have a problem. He is preventing you from learning and that's a big problem. You need to get with the training coordinator and tell them you want a teacher not a trainer. The difference is a trainer will direct you into a spot when a teacher will walk you step by step into a spot explaining why you do it this way. Sounds to me like you got a ####y arrogant A hole for a trainer. Hold your head up high and hang in there I guarantee it will be worth it.
