Are you driving one of these trucks? If not your opinion is worthless to me.

DEF is not like oil atf washer fluid or anything else you put in your truck. If you used so much of these other things daily your truck would be in need of repair. I have no problem with the other things you mentioned. When was the last time you spent $120 every week on oil or washer fluid?

If there are so many stockpiled trucks to avoid this headache why do they have over 600 trucks using def on the road?

Driver comfort is never a factor at Werner, why start now?

As for the fuel reimbursement, somebody would have to be nuts to consider this as I use more in fuel a day than I make. This would make this hard to do unless I was just a rich guy driving for fun.

As for sinking millions into making this work, why would you? Just issue a corporate credit card with each truck that uses def and contact FM to turn it on when you need def. They turn it off after purchase, simple.

Also if they were to pay for it up front they would have more control over where you buy and what they pay, having the potential to save millions not spend it. The price I have paid for this varies from $2.7 per gallon up to $8.99 per gallon. As long as I am paying up front and am getting reimbursed I could care less what they pay per gallon, it is about what is easiest for me. Now take that times 600 trucks and see how much could be saved fixing the situation.

YUP...and I hope we all know how that went down...CHRISTMAS week no less...:biggrin_25521:
Left Drivers stranded..homeless, penniless, on the street..LITERALLY for Christmas...
Company had no assets (almost)...was all leases...at the corporate level..and then they re-leased to drivers...drivers paid on time...guess who didn't!!

It is just a matter of time before DEF is sold in BULK like FUEL....Heck, I would be amazed to hear that companies using the stuff don't have portable pallet sized tanks with pumps next to the fuel pumps as an interm step...
The truck stops must love selling jugs of it..the mark-up on retail quantities must be huge!! They must make more on a couple jugs of the stuff than a full tank of fuel for the truck....but I bet you do get some great reward points towards showers, etc!!
But IMO if the DEF makes the truck more reliable than the DAM EGR system was was used before to try to meet emissions rules...it might be the better of 2 evils....hopeful no more yearly turbo/EGR valve swaps...known too many guys with EGR trucks that are junk....just will not run right!

if you can get the DEF tank full try to keep it there. you fill with fuel get a 2.5 gal DEF and put in. when in TERM, get your free jug from them. at werner, any thing you get over $25. has to be sent to road breakdown to be checked. that will take two to three weeks. so if you get a jug at every fillup. the amount is $12.99 to $15.99 +tax and payroll can rubber stamp that. your money finds its way back to you quicker.

oh, and at werner you get to pick where you want to work....then dispatch will send you where they want.....im in the south reg. and today....the south is in Green Bay WI.
