% pay is the way to go. I took a load Monday that went 145 miles and it paid me 151 dollars. Do the math! Also after I dropped that load I ended up getting a second load and making it down the road to about 1 hour away from my consignee. That day was about a 300 dollar day. If you have strong work ethic and like working and making money, you can do it at TMC no problem.

So for those of you who are "starting out," is TMC a "good" company to start with? I have no problem with the "get outside and exercise every day" or "get a passport and TWIC card" parts of it. For me, in fact, the only bad thing is they don't seem to be 48 States OTR. I might miss going out West...but I do have grandkids in Oklahoma City.

I just talked to a person in the recruting department (Gus) and his first question to me was "Are you willing to drive to ALL 48 states AND Canada" I told him I did not know they were in Canada yet haha. So what I am guessing is that they are starting to head that way.

O yeah we go to Canada. I dont have a passport so I dont go up there.

Denalidad, Yes we do go all 48 states, You would not be home every weekend but you can go everywhere you just have to ask. There is a lot of guys that stay out 2 weeks at a time and they get out west a good bit. Living in western MI is a pretty good place to live in order to get home and have good freight. I live in the suburbs of Chicago so only about 2 hours max from the MI border and I am through there all the time.

See? THIS is why I ask for information here and don't merely trust the website! They only show them serving the right half of the country. Wonderful news about that and that they go near me! It just put TMC on the list.

They run all 48 but only hire outta the eastern half of the country for the most part. Freight is more accesible and higher paying over here. The northeast pays $$$$$. Downside, im sitting here waiting to unload in long island city, queens, nyc. After going round the block 5 times to find a parking spot.

I called and left a voicemail because I'm right on the "hiring line" here in Michigan. Hopefully, I will hear from them.

Customs bullcrap... gotta carry cash for tolls and fees (TMC reimburses, but still a pain), Canadian scalehouses pick on American trucks pretty shamelessly, everything is expensive, making cell phone calls is outrageously expensive unless you have canadian calling in your plan.

    Just to name a few.

Like I said, if you are %, then it's worth the trouble for what is usually a #### good paying load. If you are CPM.... stay in the states.

    hvxjim Thanks this.
