1972 Brockway? True old school. I saw a restored Diamond Rio a little bit ago on I85 in NC. What a beauty. psd_02b3.jpg

When you got started common sense was still pretty common. Now days if you pour hot coffee in your own lap you can sue the person that sold you coffee. School doesn't teach you how to think for yourself anymore. Kids are only taught to follow orders. Truck driver training is just an extension of that same philosophy. They hold up a hoop and tell you to jump thru. Then if you can jump thru all the hoops they figure you can listen so they tell you lots of stuff not to do. Then when someone that went thru all the training gets out on the road and screws up the company can say, "We trained him not to do that" and stick the blame on the driver that screwed up. To bad we live in an information age where you can find almost anything you want to learn about from you home with a few clicks of a mouse, but everyone thinks you have to have some special training, some degree or certification to do some very simple task. The reason you have these long orientations and then have to spend weeks on the truck with a trainer is we have lost the ability to think. Training has taking the place of thinking and learning.

I think your right. Kids today do not seem to ever grow up or have any common sense or sense of responsibility and I'm not yet 50. When I started driving I was just out of the military so was probably more mature than the average kid out of high school but the kids I see today including the ones driving make me wonder.
