I saw a very short and thin lady show up with a 64oz cup of coffee every morning. 4th day she was gone. Probably ran to Jamaica or something

On the 18th of march i am going to cr england trucking school any advice would help me get ready so please throw me some information so i know what to take with me and what i need to know

As long as you were honest on application and your background, MVR and past employers are all good then you should be ok. Like Allowme said, until you get your keys to your truck is probably the actual time of employment. Most companies have 90 day probationary periods so there is that to throw into the equation.

During orientation you will have a road test and then days of paperwork, movies, tests and safety crap. A lot of companies now give wellness exams too. During this time you will be given a one on one job interview with indian chief so make sure to dress nice during orientation. You don't have to wear a suit and tie but nice pants/clean jeans, nice shirt, either collared or button down etc... Leave the sweat pants and pot leaf hat at home! (on my fathers grave we once saw a guy wear this to orientation at our company!) These people don't know a lot about you so this is the time to impress them and show them who you are. You are going to be essentially representing them when dealing with their customers and you want to reassure them that you are the person for the job. Believe it or not, I have actually been told from the source that this is a factor when issuing trucks! The nice, newer, clean trucks go to the folks that show they will take care of them. The drivers they believe are going to stay around for awhile are usually more invested in.

Just a heads up, your peepee test and blood pressure test etc... are given the first day and usually first thing in the am. If your blood pressure is high or close to high you may want to avoid coffee and/or soda that morning. High blood pressure will get you sent home just as fast as a positive peepee test!

Make sure to bring everything you will need for the next 2-3 months to orientation. Chances are you will get home sometime before then but just in case you will be fully prepared. With that being said you also don't want to overdo it! You will be going with a trainer most likely after orientation is through and it could be a tight fit! You aren't going to a third world on a church mission so if you leave anything behind or forget something you can easily pick up at Walmart or worse case scenario, a truck stop.

Some things new drivers forget to bring: work gloves, birth certificate, license, social security card, medical card AND LONGFORM! Blank check for direct deposit, knife, small flashlight, emergency money (not everything goes according to plan and if you end up on the side of the road or kicked out of your trainers truck you won't be stranded! Also companies do not pay your way home if you do not make it past orientation) cell phone charger, a few pens and notebook, and anything else I forgot to mention. Make yourself a list and check it off as you pack!

Besides this stuff it is a really good idea to have a nice resume prepared ahead of time to take with you. Not only is it impressive and shows your sincerity and dedication but you will have to fill out lots of paperwork and it will be real handy to have for copying or remembering information.

Things you don't necessarily have to bring: Towels, soap, sleeping bag (you can make your own bed roll with a sheet, blanket and pillow. I find it works better then a sleeping bag.)
Multiple pairs of shoes (for now try to wear a nice versatile pair of shoes to cut down on what you pack) cleaning supplies, food, computer/laptop, passport, cooler, suitcase, electronics for the truck such as CB, satellite radio, gps. (wait until you are assigned a truck) Be sure to not over pack clothes. A couple pairs of jeans and handful of T's, socks, and briefs. A good sweat shirt and jacket. You should have many opportunities to do laundry so don't go nutz on packing clothing. Bring what you think you will need just try not to overdo it. Once you are issued your truck you can go nutz! Also you will have a better idea of what you need to survive out there.

No, absolutely NOT!!! Just search this site alone and you’ll see plenty of examples of ‘drivers’ sent home from orientation! The reasons you could be sent home are endless.

Until you’ve got an employee number and a trainer nothing is official.
