Day Three Update Woke up at the hotel, and headed off to OC, today was extremely slow... Schneider is in the process of switching from TripPlanning over to WorkFlow system, ultimately in the QCOMM it cuts down on your computer work, and well since Nashville division is not on workflow for another 3 weeks, i had to learn the old way of making sure you can accept a load and find out if you can deliver that load legal... theres a big process, of figuring out times, fuel, macro messages, all to find out that your legal. So we practiced that ALL day, tomorrow we will work on using the QCOMM, electronic logging, and finishing up paperwork. Im sorry there wasnt much more, but thats really it, so ill let ya know tomorrow.
BamaTrucker just so you know, once you start running you will see that the qc system isn't hard at all and by time you get used to it they will change you to the new workflow. Good Luck and welcome aboard again
Glad to hear you guys all enjoy working for the pumpkin. We really need to setup a golf outing or something this spring in the Nashville area for all the folks on this forum.
Thanks, yeah we were told we were "hired" but wasnt "hired" today, and have the Comdata cards and graduation certificates have been printed, they called DBLs in Lebanon today, and said Nashville hasnt transitioned to workflow yet, but W. Memphis has, and yet they are almost all the same, but it will be in about three weeks we will be back thru an OC, and we will take the 2 hr training, where they throw a manual at you say we cut the macros in half.... dont worry about the rest. And I guess the DBLs are moving out of Pilot into an office in the next couple weeks.
Well day 4 of what turns out to be an extremely long orientation. Today we learned all about the MCP200 Qualcomm system, this is a total cellular intergrated system, that can include directions, moving map GPS, HOS logging, dispatch, and several other functions including alarm clock, wifi internet browser, tractor information ect. We learned on how to modify logs including off duty time, fuel stops, PTIs, ect, all the functions of the actual system, also we learned how to file our BOL paperwork to include Schneiders requirements like stickering, requesting purchase authorizations ect. We talked with dispatch in W Memphis and he told us about how we are not for the union, but not anti union, he informed us on per diem, and how they determine loads. We were also issued boots from the company that are required on the yards, that are non skid, oil resistant, these are Georgia Boots or Rocky Boots that you pay 25 bucks for a pretty nice pair. Tomorrow is graduation, we will get assigned our trucks, meet our dispatchers, and final paperwork, including getting comdata, and hopefully getting a load to get home. Its been a long week, and I am headed to bed. But i will be glad to get a truck, so there it is, orientation from West Memphis, and how the clock ticks, if you choose Schneider, they will treat you right, just make it thru a long orientation.
So I take it if you have experience, you don't go out with a trainer. It's my impression they train non-CDL students too, no? Which includes orientation, then 1-2 weeks with a trainer, then the test for your license, etc., right?
Schneider does not train non cdl holder's if you have a cdl from a approved school they then send you with a TE Training Engineer. Schneider used to offer a full school but not any longer,
