Hello guys i had a few questions about swifts orientation. I know usx wants verification forms to verify my time being self employed with my brother in law being paid under the table. I had to redo the application and put down unemployed because i have no way to verify it. Does swift require verification for self employed times or is my one and a half years verifiable work experience ok

Per the DOT requirement (not even a company requirement) you have to account for your employment for ten years.. that can be a combination of jobs and unemployed time. You do NOT have to be on paid unemployment you just have to cover the dates that you unemployed. People who are too young for a ten year employment history just have to cover the times that they were employed.

You just need to sit down and crunch the dates into something that is a continuous string of dates to the present day for as long as you can go back. For those periods of doing side work for cash.. consider and mark those times down as unemployed as this could alert some sort of audit or something. And for future reference, put that information onto a zip drive or somewhere that you will never lose it. All the companies are looking for are the continuous dates.. They want to know that you were not in Syria in a training camp somewhere. After you get the dates down

I haven't seen a zip drive in many years. Didn't they connect via the parallel port, which no longer exists on modern computers?

    Back to topic.
Every company (mostly) will require you to account for all the time during the last 10 years.
CDL or not, they want it.
If you have large gaps that can't be accounted for with a verifiable employment history a notarized letter from a friend or family member explaining circumstances where you could not work will do the trick.
I had to do that when I started with Swift.
I was living with my sister but was not working due to some physical problems for about a year.
But all you need is a letter to cover your times of unemployment.
