Can anyone go into more detail about the load securement class and what does it involve? Is it difficult? Joecool313 said its about safety, can any1 really do it?

According to their website its about safety and proper procedure but also you have to be able to perform certain job functions, like lift a 120lbs tarp onto the trailer, climb a 13ft ladder and other physical duties the job will require. At least thats how I understand it.

Hey Mr. Ortiz, Load Securement was not to bad, as long as you don't have any major physical limitations then you should be fine. You have to be able to throw the coiled straps over the load. In South Carolina they used a flatbed trailer with a container on top. They also made you climb a ladder from the ground up to the top of the container and they want you to stand on the edge and show the instructor on the ground your toes so they know you will be able to handle the height of the higher loads. Its really not as hard as it sounds, everybody in my class did it, even the guys who did not like heights.

As far as the tarps, the lumber tarps are the heavier of the 2 (lumber / steel ) and they didn't ask everybody individually to lift them up on the trailer. And to be perfectly honest, in the field the forklift driver puts them on top of the load for you after he is done loading your trailer. But you still have to be able to fold them up and then carry them and put them away in the headache cabinet behind the cab of the tractor.

Most of the load securement is based on proper TMC procedure for securing loads and trying to stop any forward, side to side, or up and down movement.

Mr. Ortiz and Wolfpack Thank this.

hey joe thanx for the reply. I've been interested in TMC since I graduated from my school. There was a nice poster of the trucks in the class. I was talking to a driver from TMC and he let me see the tarps and even see how they weight. I recently turned 23 so I will definitely be applying.

Good Luck, I'm sure if you apply yourself you will do fine at Orientation.

The equipment is top of the line, they take pride in having some of the nicest company trucks on the road.

Again, the best of Luck to you.

I read your post on another forum about being turned down because of an accident within the last five years. I'm in the same situation sort of. There was no police report or tickets we just traded insurance info and that was it. I talked to my insurance agent who told me that the accident will show up on whats called a clue report and trucking companies have access to that database.

yes I'm a newbie and the accident was under 2000 and in a car.

were you given a chance to explain situation?

how many companies turned you down because of this? I'm looking at roehl and have been trying to get ahold of wade (recruiter) for clarification and to see if this disqualifies me.

could you pm me with some data on this ...I don't have enough posts

    thanks andy

It may or may not disqualify you. If you do not mention the accident on the app but it shows up on your record somewhere it sends your application directly to the circular file.
