Might be the wrong place? Who has used trucking profits to start other businesses or something to create another income? I had a pretty wealthy guy with multiple businesses tell me I should use the truck money to start a "real" business that wasn't dependent on me working for all the income.

    Thoughts?

I define a business as something that provides you a net profit without you being there working on it. So I do not consider a truck driver driving a truck to be a real business , it’s a job. You should always be looking at ways to start a real business.

Basically what I'm getting at, just didn't know if anyone has done it. Figured if they were very successful they probably aren't on this site

We have a dispatching service, accounting, book keeping, farm, compliance service, consulting plus the trucking.....which is very much a business and not a job.

Used to do some construction and dirt work aswell. It all just got to be too much. Prolly gonna be cutting back more when we can.

I still haven’t found a business that warrants my investment more then a trucking business.

I always thought one day I’d buy a liquor store because people drink when they’re happy, and drink when they’re sad. Recession proof! Over time though I’ve realized that it’s not something I want to be involved with.

I had some online businesses prior to trucking but really it’s all the same. End of the day you need folks working for you so until you figure that out it’s all the same.

My long term goals are to buy farm ground and rent it out to farmers. It’s something “they” aren’t making any more of. My parents are farmers who own their own ground and I see many farmers who rent ground in order to farm. You only have to deal with it once per year vs monthly with houses and such.

Right now I only have 75 acres but over time I’d love to accumulate 1000’s of acres. Now that would really be something IMO.

For me personally. Trucking is the “vehicle” I’m using to get there. Your mileage may vary.

You have to start somewhere... Anybody that tells you if you own your truck and authority is not a business is a moron and probably dont have the balls to start their own business... Maybe they would say starting a construction company with just 1 bulldozer and 1 employee is not a business either... dennis washington did just that and he is now worth over 5 billion dollars today....lots of business start small... Mechanics starting with just themselves and a small shop.. Welders with a service truck and build out from there... The stories go on and on.. Get in where you fit in and the sky is the limit if you love what you do..
