Permit09 the chances of getting robbed or stuff stolen from your vechile isn't no different than being at home. A driver just has to be aware of their surroundings and be carefull getting in and out of truck.
I prefer to stay away from most truckstops, there are some that are exceptions. I fuel and leave. Truckstops seem to have a high accident rate (Pilots, etc...) As far as the Truckstops in Los Angeles stay away from the ones in Ontario there is a much cleaner better area with truckstops just north of LA in Castaic. The truckstops in Ontario are just a haven for Hookers, druggies and people looking to rip off drivers. I would rather park in the rear of a shopping center or grocery store, and I have rarely been bothered. Just keep it clean and quiet. In California the law reads you must have 10 feet between your truck and the closest part of the nearest traveled lane. Most freeways are posted Emergency Parking Only $185.00 to $295.00 (depends on the county) ticket and it shows as a moving violation, they write it as failure to follow traffic control devices or signs. Makes it a bad ticket. So I dont sleep on freeways or there ramps. But some do and a few I know have been sited.
Really, want the street gangs to approach your truck. And just why would you want that. Your really tough enough to handle multiple attackers. The reason they don't bother you is because you are not there.
this whole post was great but this was my favorite part im a strong supporter of the right to bear arms
When You park in a private lot, do you ask the store mngr. or do you just park there ? I've often wondered about that ?
Just remember, your right to bear arms by some law enforcement (even if legal) can land you in jail. There was a story here in Maine of 2 such drivers that entered a port here to unload. Some how those pistols that they carried gave them jailtime.
If you are "forced" to pull over on an off/on ramp because it's the only "safe" thing to do, then make sure you put out your safety triangles! As "unsafe" as it is to park there, it's worse if you fall asleep 50 yards past the exit. Good planning is the key!
