    Im 55, wanting to upgrade my CDL but for the moment, I am desperate for work. Clean record. Kids are older im almost divorced, and alone. Can stay out as long as allowed. Currently driving for Amazon since May. c Please help . Live in Venice, Florida (Sarasota) but would like to locate elsewhere. johnstarlingr@gmail.com

    It absolutely doesn't matter , at all. I'm really happy with wherever I am. Would like to get out of Florida but if a job requires me to stay , it is what it is. "In a perfect world" , would love to relocate to the mountains and/or somewhere colder. Moved to Florida when I was 19 (1989) to be close to my Father .

    There is t anyway to upgrade it. I have to start from scratch as if I had a regular driver's licence. I may be able to skip air brakes because I have that , but unsure

    Tennessee or South Dakota probably has what you want, plus no state income taxes.
    Reno, Nevada has some pretty cold winters with snow and also no state income taxes or food taxes at grocery stores.

    CDL schools, some anyway, have weekend classes for those that must keep their current job while in school.
    You can try trucking companies that pay a salary while attending their inhouse cdl school.
    Roehl Transport pays something like $616.00 weekly, plus lodging and meals.
    Don't know if TMC Transportation hires in your area, but does pay $500.00 weekly plus lodging and meals.
