ONly Boselmans had it free. The rest you pay for and they arn't cheap. And if you buy one you don't get the others. Each truck stop has there own. That's why I did the air card.

More and more states are putting it in the rest areas though.

I'm online pretty regularly while on the road. 4 or 5 times a week at a minimum. (I'm a tech geek, I admit it) "Trucker's friend" directories usually tell you which Trk stops have wi-fi, and MANY states have it at their rest areas. Often it's even free. One option you might consider is getting a P.C. Cellular card. If ya don't know: It's an air card, similar to the wi-fi add ons. It goes into the PCMCIA slot, and networks through the cell towers. It can be spendy sure, but you'll get decent bandwidth, and are'nt tied down to hunting up a parking spot at a T/A or Flying hook.

Do you mean an internet access system onboard the truck? The answer to that'n would be "NO" There's several systems where you can get/send simple text e-mail through the qualcomm, though. (I've never used it so can't say). Interstate distributors has wi-fi at some of their terminals, but from what I've heard their nanny-content filters are screwed down so tight, the service is all but worthless. Aside from that..... Wi-fi at truck stops, and hotels make internet access pretty simple.

If you combine your cell phone (Verizon) with the air card Verizon will drop that monthly internet charge to $59.99

Occasionally you run into an independent truck stop that has Free net access. One thing to remember about rest area net is that they are usually full of spam, pop ups, and other advertisement.

so, i now know that all cdonalds here in my area are wire less with wi-fi. i am searching for a website with hot spot s finders I am sure they are out there.

$145 a month is not bad if you use your internet alot. if you had a home phone of $45, a cable bill of $67 and paid for long distance that is what you would be paying at home. MAYBE. thats what i am paying right now plus $49.99 a month for internet and $55 for a cell. if you use the internet for entertainment and such it is worth it, also, you can watch and movies on itunes from ipod and many new sites, plus unlimted free vieos on youtube and putfile. and you can utilize gps mapping services and and more.
