The gross income for days driving is very close to actual pay.You should also be paid hourly when fueling,pre-trip,ect.Its usaully not much but mine adds up to 10-12 hours a week hourly pay.I can easily get 600 miles a day unless it's snowing or windy. But I have a 2300 mile run one way, mostly interstate.
Our team drivers easily get over $100,000 every year, each.I drive 4 days, take a 36 hour reset in Canada, then drive 4 days back.

Can you be a bit more specific on what you are getting the $200 to $300 a week for? 6600 miles per week, wow. Do you have trouble sleeping in a moving truck? I suppose you sleep in the lower bunk?

3,000 per week average isn't hard...if you never take time off. When you factor in hometime you will drop below 3K.

Part is "performance pay" which is for fuel efficiency, fueling where they say & working so many days. In May it should go up & it will only be based on mpg. The other is hourly pay for being "on duty not driving".

6300. Our account keeps us moving.

Not generally. My wife has some issues with it. I do sleep in the lower bunk.

Thanks for the information. Team driving with the wife a great way to make some serious money while still having a life and companionship.

That brings up another question though, how do OTR drivers that are single, find time to date and meet people. Not only that, develop relationships with people willing to accept their absence for days or weeks on end.

Two suggested strategies for this topic:

    • Build up enough "seat time"....and get the requisite endorsements, if need be....such that you can qualify for a driving job that has you HOME DAILY. For example: some gigs have you home daily, & working 5 days on-2 off, then 4 days on-3 off...then repeat (or something similar to that). Those jobs allow you the "window of opportunity" to meet/see the same people daily and/or weekly.
    • Get a job that is regional--and has you home weekly; then do your socializing/fraternizing on the weekends (or whatever your weekly hometime actually is). Life on the road for weeks on end is a great gig for "loners" (like me)....who have a true appetite for the adventures of the open road in a big-rig...but can and does suck for people who like being around/with others.
