A new OTR driver will often average between 8-10k miles a month, depending on the company and region they run. In the beginning, it will be closer to 8k on average. Consistently doing over 10k miles a month is going to take a good company with a competent dispatch system and a reasonably hard-working, efficient driver with a bit of experience.

Go with that formula there. Plan your career at 2500 miles weekly some weeks will be better than others. 98 percent of drivers won't drive 3000 miles per week every week. The average driver will run about 2200 to 2400. A good driver will run about 2500 to 2600 miles weekly. The best drivers in the fleet are averaging north of 2700 to 2800. Those guys and gals in the last category will be the ones who can get a couple of 3000 mile weeks per month. As alluded to earlier, you have to be with the company thay can dish out miles.

Thank you for the answer. Looks like 2300 miles per week, 50 weeks out of the year would be $63K. That seems on the low side for being on the road all the time. Unless there is additional pay as mentioned earlier, ie loading / unloading etc. I am delivering ready mix concrete right now and during busy times $1600 a week is common (50 to 55 hour week), however as it turns out the job is very seasonal and you don't make nearly that in the off season.

63K is low. Part of the equation is how motivated you are as a driver. There are some that seem to be happy enough with a truck to sleep in and earning enough to feed themselves.

Run everything they give you and get it there early as possible and the people in charge will notice and throw you more/longer runs.

I did $67K my first year in 2016 when I was only getting 37 CPM. Mileage wasn't the only thing I got paid for though. Extra stop pay for multiple stop runs, detention, Canada border crossing etc. It all adds up.

Lets do some math... if you run 7 days a week for 50 weeks a year on recaps, its 70/8 so 8.75 hours average. Call it 50 mph average at .55 cpm its $84,218 per year.

I don't think I can run 7 days a week for 50 weeks. I am not sure how recap works but I am guessing it means no, or fewer, 34 hour resets

Means no 34 hour resets. How often are you trying to get back home? We can play with some more maths.
