Most of the Megas, you're going to be all over the lower 48. Unless, as stated above, they happen to run certain corridors more often.

With a lot of Megas, though, you're going to spend a good amount of time in the NE, especially if solo. If you think about it, the most concentration of population is there, thus most amount of demand for freight & best rates.

Team, whole different ballgame. The whole country is your playground. Perishable products with less time to get to end point, requiring team. Lot more potential w/two clocks to work with. Produce from Left coast & Mexican border to east. Grab something else, go back.....& do it again.

Yeah, have heard some Megas can make it difficult on some to get home.

Have not seen that myself, personally. Can get to wherever I want, whenever I want w/just a few days notice. But, may possibly have to do w/me never taking off.

I have stayed in contact with ALL my former students & have yet to hear one complain about not getting routed home when requested. (One goes home WAY, WAY more than I figured would even be allowed.... FL, too boot!). FREAKING slacker! LOL

I have seen a time or two where unexpected shipper or receiver delay did mess things up by a day or two, but certainly not the norm.

Always told them if they absolutely, must be home by certain date..... (Dr. appt, wedding, funeral, etc....), request that hometime a day or two earlier than needed, just to be sure.

Otherwise, expect that the unexpected could delay you a day or two, just to be safe.

    Good luck to you.

    Wish you the best!

    Dedicated..... yes.

But, heed what he just said about Dollar accounts!

And, be carefull of the hook, line & sinker that may well be dangled in front of you for that..... Don't feel pressured as to "that's all we have open right now".

All the Megas at least need OTR badly, no matter the snow job they might give you. Regional may be more selective, based on needs... as that tends to be more in demand for drivers looking to stay in home range.
Definately do not want the potential career killer for a newbie on a Dollar account. They spit 'em out like watermelon seeds at a distance spitting contest.

To much of potential for screw ups in such tight quarters & car traffic. Unless your really, really carefull.... Couple screw ups & you're gone. Which will, of course, follow on your record. So, good luck finding work elsewhere.

One plus, if successfull on that account...... you will have learned to back into #### near anywhere.

I wouldn't wish that on any new person, let alone even an experienced one.

There is a REASON why no one experienced will do those accounts! No joking at all. Thus, why they have to sacrifice some "lambs" all the time to keep accounts w/them serviced.

Pretty well known about in these here parts.

Might as well see the whole Enchilada - I went to almost all 48 states, missed those few states in the far Northeast.

It depends on which company you choose to work for. OTR (Over-The-Road) means almost any state. Regional usually means working in several adjacent states. Local means home daily.

Companies send you where the freight is with minimal dead heading..they couldn't care less where you live..or if you ever see home again.

Y’all are funny.. I get what OTR is I get what a lot of trucking is already I’ve been doing my research for months I was simply asking if they’d keep me on the West or East when I drive because lots of people I see running stay in there region but maybe it’s luck of the draw. I’m gonna start a new thread for Swifties.

I would say no. Your first gig, you aint gonna be able to pick and choose where you go. Company says heres a load, you say thank you very much and off you go.
    It'll be Fun!
