So driving a truck isn't really that crappy.... paying for a college degree is

 

I’ve been OTR and Regional for 5 years. I’ve never been treated like a criminal. I can count on 2 hands and have fingers left over on places with no bathroom. Some shippers/receivers/guard shack folks have been rude or unfriendly. But I’m at always polite and respectful. It usually goes a long ways. The ones that are rude or unfriendly is their problem. Doesn’t ruin my day. I try to keep a good attitude. Don’t let others rent space in my head.
I’ve experience many many more undesirable people at truckstops if you get my drift......

 

Have you ever owned a truck? If you have I bet you weren’t paying yourself much more than most megas are paying. The pie only has so many pieces in it so you can’t just pull 80 cents per mile out of the air to pay the drivers.

And there are plenty of good companies out there. I had one employee driving position for a total of just under 10 years. I loved that company. Ran regional, home on weekends, mostly went to the same customers. The good stuff is out there but it takes effort and research to find it. But even the good jobs won’t pay near what you’re used to.

 

Spot on in my opinion and experiences.... from my own experience, Those that treat me with disrespect,
are inconsiderate, rude, unfriendly.... are the drivers.
But it's water off a ducks back to me... merely being polite and gracious to EVERYONE puts me pocket Rockets ahead of those holdin a 7 and Duece mentality.

 

Pull tankers, you never have to wait to unload. Only wait to load...

Get one that pays by the hour though.

 

That’s what I’m doing, no complaints. My employer treats me right.

As for bathrooms, smoke ‘em if you got ‘em! That is, hit up a truck stop or rest area whenever you get the chance and take advantage.

And ever since I had my gallbladder out about 20 years ago, I’ve had to be very aware of bathroom opportunities, because I sometimes have a very short window between first rumblings and DEFCON 1, if you get my drift. So by necessity I’ve learned that a plastic trash bag works just fine as an emergency toilet. Afterwards, I’ll knot the end of the bag and put it in another bag which I also knot, and odor isn’t a problem. That doubled bag goes in my general trash bag which gets thrown away at the next opportunity.
