Turnover actually didn't look that bad compared with other OTR's. Of course some fleet managers numbers are off the charts compared with the others.... I posted that number just to see who would like to put their foot in mouth. When one person quits thats an uptick. -

Yes its a walk-away lease. Escrow accounts are ballanced against outstanding obligations and damage repairs to equipment. Then you settle-up, and walk away. Period. And no, you don't normally get to jump to the other side - especially if there is a large balance due and unless you have a track record on the company side. NON-WALK-AWAY leases are like CRE - where you continue to be responsible for payments on the truck until someone else comes along and takes it over.
IMO its a bad bet to keep most of the guys who are financially irresponsible around. The required payments continue to be deducted from their settlements when they get in trouble. So payments that they are responsible for PMs, etc and taxes are in the wind. Generally they are several thousand in the hole, not including what they owe on physical damage when the plug is pulled. What are you going to do? Withhold everything except $50 a week so they can eat? I don't think so. Turn them over to collections, and sue.
