Ironpony, the truck I took on the short lease last summer was an 07 Freightliner, and I found exactly what you are saying. EGR issues, etc. It was in the shop so much for that and the APU. Then, the sending unit started leaking. SLC replaced the seal three times, and it still leaked... so that certainly did not help fuel mileage either! At ACEII, they said the same thing about the 07s, that it was tough on them to get decent fuel mileage, and nobody was really surprised when I ended up turning the truck in come December.
As I said in the other thread. my wife and I are considering another lease if they will have us back around July (She has to finish her school first). She will come out with me, so it was valuable to read this thread from Billsgirl. Not sure if we want her to get a CDL yet. But we WILL get a newer truck, if not a brand spankin' new one. I am inclined toward the Cascadia over the Petes. I think the lease is cheaper, but the storage space seems to be more in the FL. We will see if they will even LET me come back!

If you do go for an older truck, I've been told at a minimum that you should have the long-form ECM report downloaded... and do a really thorough inspection. I'd prefer more myself, but I'm not totally sure what Success will allow us to do on the lease side.

Thank you for the blatant honest information on Prime and the attorney's name. I'm calling him today as OOIDA has suggested that I hire council based on my closing out my lease with Prime. As they are not allowed to suggest any particular attorney I've been a little at a loss. Woo Hoo. Thank you!:biggrin_25511:

Hi Bill's Girl just curious is your hubby still happy and you able to ride with him again? I'm glad you started this thread, Prime does a slew of (I believe) paid cheerleaders that consistently lie about their practices. Maybe you stopped someone from making the same mistake you made.
    Good karma for you.

We left Prime January this year and went to JCT (of course we had to deadhead 1375 to turn in the lease truck) and are as happy as can be. We are bringing more money than we ever did with Prime even in honeymoon period. Good luck, just asking.:biggrin_25525:

That's a load of crap. U2, Emtom, TruckerMike, the others, and myself are all drivers at Prime. None of us are "paid" for posting here, and putting up with the constant barrage of insults that we recieve. Since I am gainfully employed - and running, if you care to meet me somewhere on one of my runs I'll be happy to let you look at my logbooks and trip reports.

You can put that "paid shill" BS where the sun don't shine.

Do you honestly think Prime doesn't read these threads? Maybe you live in the gravy because you skip around in a short skirt with pom poms?:biggrin_25523:

I could care less what management does... as successful as the company has been for the last 40 years, I really doubt they waste their time on this. There are plenty of us who are making money with Prime - and that includes folks with many years of tenure.

    I'll be in Houston tomorrow.

It amazes me that there are dolts on here that think that NOBODY at Prime could actually be happy and making money. Everybody that I have talked to lately at Prime is making good money. We are growing (and getting more loads to haul), while a whole bunch of other companies are downsizing, struggling and/or going out of business. The miles and loads are there, you just gotta run them.

By the way, I am a bonafide L/O for Prime. I get paid to haul stuff. I am currently in Utica, NY.

Gimme a P! Gimme an R! Gimme an I! Gimme an M! Gimme an E! What's that spell!?!? A bigger paycheck for TruckerMike! Yaaay!

IP, you don't get paid for this? :biggrin_25526:

I can't speak for everyone on the board, but I've personally met IP. In fact we have each others phone extensions.....errrr....I mean....cell numbers. And I know IP has met U2. That just leaves DirtySide as the recruiter. :biggrin_2559:

I am currently in Haverhill, MA. No terminal there!

If you really think we're paid recruiters, go to the Prime forum. I can't give the address here as the mods get angry for "advertising" but google it. Is that website a recruiting ploy too?? A handful of Prime drivers on a website with basically no complaining? Can't be.

I don't get it. I seriously don't understand where all this hatred towards Prime comes from. In fact, two weeks ago I was at the fuel islands at a truck stop and the guy fueling next to me says "you drive for Prime? I'm sorry." Then pats me on the back. First of all, touch me again and see what happens. I said "Actually I'm really happy with Prime and make decent money here. Nice truck you've got." As I looked over at his 10 year old, piece of junk truck with an even worse trailer. He went about his business.

I think the only place the hatred comes from is people who had a failed lease. I can't recall a single person on this forum complaining after being a company driver at Prime. What do we have to complain about?? Seriously?

I have no intention of leaving Prime, but I always like to keep my options open just in case. So I do in fact research other companies from time to time. As far as any other larger carrier goes, I just can't see how anybody is that much better than Prime. My pay is slightly above average for my experience level, I have a nice truck with an APU, our trailers are some of the best on the road, they keep me rolling, I am never forced or even asked to cheat my logs / drive illegal, I'm treated on a first name basis, my dispatcher is excellent (I dread the day he leaves), I get home when I ask...what can these other companies offer me?

Looking at their websites give me no indication I should switch, and it's not like Prime is the only company bashed on this forum. Find me one company on this forum that is praised by everyone. Even the Walmart Private Fleet has received complaints, and they're supposed to be the cream of the crop! For those who enjoy driving OTR and don't mind staying out for a month at a time, there is absolutely no problem with Prime.

By the way, I get paid per word. This sentence adds on another dollar. And so does this one.
