IP and the rest, please take your bows. We've done recruited us another one! Especially you, IP, with that reverse psychology ploy. I really never thought that your repeated posts warning people not to lease would actually work.
I've got the first round in "Houston" tonight! -
Yes, I had a lease that did not work out well last year. It happens. That does not reflect on the company. Things happen. Thing is, if something goes wrong, it cannot possibly be the driver's fault, so it has to be the company. In my case, it was neither, really. With all the maintenance issues, etc., the downward spiral was just too much. I like Prime, and always have. I have talked to a LOT of happy people at Prime, including our resident bunch on here, although I have yet to personally meet any of y'all as far as I know. U2 may not respond or speak to me again since I apparently said/posted something that got stuck in his craw.
It is looking like the wife and I will be rejoining Prime within the next couple months. Few things to tie up first. But the kids are all gone, we have friends to rent the house... so we can go and go and go. I know DirtySideDown is an L/O, and I think Sazook it, too... that is how we will go I think. I will have my wife (as a rider for a while unless she decides to go for the gusto and get her CDL) with our two dogs... so not sure that would work on the company side.DirtySideDown Thanks this. -
Actually my view on the evil and reviled "Lease" is actually changing due to the improving (that's slightly improving) economic circumstances of the country. That's the only reason I've been down on leasing is just the revenue side of the equation.
And I think that's probably why this last whiner had problems at Prime, but is doing better at JCT... -
i did in fact lease a truck from prime years ago , a brand new freight liner and as a matter of fact i oved the old truck and would have maid money with the truck except for a dispatcher bwecause of him i turned the truck back, but as far as prime the treated me like gold anything i ask for a got no questrions ask the problem was i do not do short runs and that is all this dispatcher would give me to tun so i left simple as that,
was that primes fault , nope it was not the fault was mine i refuse to take short runs and i still do , don't like them and i dont want them.
but as a company there not what you have heard if i didn't have my own truck today i would go back to them in a minute and i have heard they have made some changes as far as short runs sinch i have left and thats possibel all companys change over time but they are not what a lot ofthese guys make them out to be .
do you pay to much for a lease truck of course you do but try to buy a new truck with nothing down and no credit check and see what you have to pay even if you could do it .
not to mention the trailer that goes with it .
there just not as bad as you hear another example at christmas i was broke hadent been ther long enough to make any money the gave me 3000.00 dollors for christmas to buy the family christmas now how many company's do you no that will do that, not many if any.
you might cut them a little slack there realy not all that bad.
southernprideolphart, TheUnfortunate, ironpony and 2 others Thank this. -
We've talked to several drivers and have heard both sides (making it vs not making it), one driver explained how "everything works", was not unhappy w prime per se, just not thrilled w success leasing, but was "making it". The basic bottom line was in how you run your business. He did however say that the accountants (or whatever Prime calls them) are "for Prime" meaning they are looking out for Prime, not the driver. We are considering going this route as husband/wife team (about 8 hours a piece) in October. How are things going this year at Prime and Success Leasing? Haven't come across any newer/recent postings
P.S. My fiancé has 2 1/2 years otr, I have about 1 (combined) year.Last edited: Sep 8, 2011

I'm doing pretty well gross revenue was $1.73 per mile at the end of the second quarter. Fuel surcharge has been keeping up with prices, so, yeah - doing well.
Accountants are for Prime? What's that supposed to mean? I check my settlements every week, and outside of a few misplaced charges now and again, there aren't any problems. I had more headaches when I ran a retail franchise - dealing with Prime is easy in comparison. -
Billsgirl,
I would like to hear more about what you or your husband have to say, but I can't PM you. (Haven't done enough post)
At one time I was a leased O/O for another company but the truck was old, became a shop wench, the leasing company screwed me on the maintenance, or the lack there of, and I lost my ### far worse then you. ($17,000 in the toilet, and no take home for 9 months.)
I'll be starting at Prime in about 2-3 weeks.
Honestly, I have thought about leasing again, put the prices scare me!
Can you try to PM me?
