you should have told Barney you were on personal off duty time, thus you didnt need a log book, or keeping anything current, you werent under a load, you should not have gotten the ticket and you should fight it

7days is an automatic shutdown, OOS, do not pass go
if you were only not current one day, he can give you a ticket, but for 7days, he was supposed to shut you down

DOT told me you dont even have to have a logbook if you are doing something personal, not under a load, especially going to walmart while your trailer is at pilot

Did he actually put you OOS. Did he follow you back to the TS?

and if you are off-duty, DOT cannot make you come ON-DUTY for an inspection
now, he can inspect the truck, but you are off-limits (unless he suspects you of a crime or something) -
I'm not saying don't fight it just presenting the facts so you have all the info. -
