Dennis,
I can understand why you not want to go 24/7 with a complete stranger.
Who would? You may want to consider Watkins-Shepard as an alternative.
They will put you in a truck right after completion of their CDL school, with no trainer. Check out their website.
I've heard so much good and bad about them on this forum, so I'm up in the air myself about deciding what to do.
Out with a trainer question...

you could sleep on the cat walk.... .. remember what you learn will stay with you in your career... when i park at night i always try to find a spot between two o/o.... that way swift or any of the other rookies will not modify the front end of my tractor... but then again... try to look at the o/o truck.. all beat up... find another spot... most important of all... talk to the folks in the fuel lanes.. inside the t/s's.... listen to what they say... ask advice... if you have trouble backing up... ask for help... you may get razzed a little.. but you will find that others are their to help... would rather help you than have you hit my tractor...too much paperwork..

That was A LONG time ago, but we were all that close for a long time. And those were some of the best days of my life. I just did not know it at the time. Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. 1972. January.
Yeah, I can do this. -

You'll have to research all the posts on any company that you're interested in........trust me, you'll hear good and bad about every one if you look long and hard enough.....it can make you crazy trying to decide.

There may be some companies that want you to run with somebody for a while when you change carriers. But most don't they figure if you have the documented experience, then you are good to go.
Of course, there are also the companies who force you to do "team driving," which means that one of you are rolling the wheels while the other one sleeps. If this is a husband wife team you can really make money that way.
And it will either be VERY good, or pure hell. . .or :smt022
Anyhow, go along with the program, listen and learn. You will find things that you will want to do, and things you will do differently once you are on your own.
I worked a temp job team driving, and while I did not much care for the co-driver that I was assigned with, we both taught each other a lot. -
