Was JCW paid as a team driver or still getting his 600.00 dollar a week training pay from Prime?

It's $600 or .12/mile whichever is higher. If they drove over 5k miles that week, my paycheck (um, ok, technically it's HIS paycheck, but really, who pays the bills and feeds the kids and gets the kids where they need to be when they need to be there...and yes, he's ok w/ that.) The week they pulled almost 6k, I think he banked almost $650 after his $75 "allowance" and taxes and stuff.

Before anyone gets all atwitter about how WE do things. This is how things work for US. I have the burden of taking whatever he earns and making it pay the bills. He just does his job (whether that was wrenching or driving a truck). He thinks his part is the easy part. I am a stay-at-home-schooling mother. I don't sit on the couch watching soaps and eating bonbons. I WISH I got paid for all the stuff I do. This is how things work well for US. Your mileage may vary. It takes an honest relationship and that takes work. But I'm not afraid of work.

His 40K is done now, he heads back to SpringMO Monday after his first weekend home since he left with is shiny new CDL on July 19. Frankly, his training pay? That was better than most of his wrenching pay.

Since your CDL is not new, they might. But keep in mind, if you're a hard charger, you can knock that 50 hours out in under a week. That 240 hours wheel time is all yours. Not a combination.

Additionally, I have seen some drivers with "old" experience go out with a mentor for only a couple of weeks to learn paperwork and company stuff.

Thanks Injun, That's what I'm hopeing. I took your advice and did the refresher course on my own. I will finish it at the end of this week. Didn't really need it for the driving or backing. Get plenty of practice with that, pulling my horse and hay trailers around. But all the company's wanted it. Will say that I did need the refresher as far as DOT regs and Hours in service go as they have changed quite abit since I've been driving.
And to be honest, I am glad that any company that I go with will put me with a trainer first and not just give me a set of keys and cut me loose. But living with someone that I might not even like, in that small of a space for 3 to 4 months is a very long time. Don't know if I can do it.
I have been researching the probability of going to work for an oilpatch contractor the last couple of days. The money is very appealing and though the work is hard and the hours are long I still find myself interested enough to keep looking. I have no expierience in this field and I am pushing 50 so don't know if it's somthing I should even consider.
Do you have any knowledge or any info on this subject?

I have a friend who is working in an oil field in North Dakota. Looooooong hours, hard work, live in a man camp, not a lot to do. He says a lot of ugly women hang around and they're starting to look really good to him.
