Lucky you...talk about dodging a bullet! I dodged one a few years ago when I somehow made the rookie mistake of sliding the tandems in the wrong direction at the truck stop (only time in my whole 15+ year career). Ended up with 34,800 on my drives instead of 34,000. As a direct result of this mistake I got pulled into the CA scale on 99 near the TA in Livingston. It also turned out that one of my trailer air bags was crooked/broken. This was actually a blessing in disguise, because they let me off the hook for the overweight and instead cited THE OWNER OF THE TRUCK (not me) for the faulty equipment. My employer did sock me with paying the moderate fine (which I didn't contest) but hey, my record stayed clean!

Yea, it surprised me so much that I re-checked the law when I got home because I thought it might have changed ( it hadn't). I know TN does allow 40k on tandems but you have to have a permit to do so.
