1991 rolling down almeda drive pulling a 40 end dump loaded with bricks, front to back 2 foot over the side boards that my boss installed so I could haul more crap. Dps has got a couple of dump trucks pulled over and is giving them the business until they saw me lumbering down the road slowly. Cop pulls me over but doesn't want me to pull into the parking lot where they're doing inspections. "We're gonna weight you on the street" I didn't really care, figured I was a little bit overweight. 135,000 at the rear tandem. Didn't bother to weigh the rest of the truck. Cop was pissed. Since I was only going 2 blocks further down the road to our yard he let me go with cool souvenir.

Yeah said he was all the way forward on his tandems ,
.... He's gonna have to dodge every scale house all the way to Texas from NJ
.... Unless he can shift that wieght or do some research on wieght tolerance for each state

Yeah it's a very touchy moment when the officer is ready to use deadly force , all you can think about is I hope this man can make good decisions

Dodge scales all the way to TX with that load......Geeze driver! Paranoid much?
Fill the tanks and roll on...Under gross and a couple hundred over on drives....I bet a scale house will not even think about it or bother him...
I run all over with 34800 on my drives and steers at 12500+......I never get a ticket!
MY gross is 79500 or so..

Load rating embossed on tire sidewall X 2 = maximum allowed weight on steers.
Yes, a lot of states allow 20,000#, BUT your tires also have to be rated at 10,000#. Those super single style wide steers used on heavy haul and Concrete mixers are rated that high.
Most standard steer tires are rated 6,000# to 6600#, so you have to know your rating to know your max steer weight.
