One of the core rules of economics is that higher levels of regulation are always better for large and established companies. Trucking isn't particularly heavily regulated.

Some of the things associated are highly regulated, like truck manufacturing. One of the reasons there are really only 3 OEM's

Not to mention this is one of the few industries you can go to jail if you don't do what your told, yet I see corruption on a daily bases and so many people getting by with it, but if I do 3 miles over the speed limit I get a ticket

Trucking is not over regulated any more than anything else. The thing that makes it feel that way is it is the only industry that cops have the utmost authority over you and can drop in on you anytime they get a hard on for it. What other industries do cops just come in for random inspections without warrants?

wait a minute, that's just utter BULLSH*****.

From the MSP themselves, you have a 1 in 200,000 chance of being pulled over for a traffic offense; in the old days, it was more like 1 in 12,000.

I liked a lot of that Vincent guys movies. Airwolf. *now it’s hard to watch* that doomsday with huge armored vehicles crossing USA. Suddenly he was gone.

Mining for one...although the inspectors are not peace officers neither are most of the commercial vehicle inspectors in Minnesota.

If they're carrying guns that's already too much. All dressed up like some sort of swat team or military to do inspections. Land of the free!

MN CVI's aren't armed...unless they are an actual State Trooper.

Same with South Dakota and Montana. If it’s just motor carrier enforcement they’re not cops.
