All the advice the guys have given you, is top notch, follow their advice, post the permit(s) if you're that confused, but the most important point they brought up, is you have to prepare/study. No driving until you know exactly what and where you're going.
When I was with Swift, they gave you exact directions to go, so I got in the habit of writing it down, and then checking the Atlas to follow it and see where it went. Where the problem you or anyone will have, is sometimes, you'll see a name or number change in the permit and you're going nuts looking for it. Usually, it's because you just joined with another route with that name/number that is running the same road you were just on. THAT'S what you have to watch out for, and know ahead of time by studying your route to figure that out, rather than waiting until you're rolling and try to figure it out. I always hated watching streets change names when it's the same road, but the next town wants their name on it instead.
TripleSix, Albertaflatbed, James j and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yeah I started doing the route on my legal pad and atlas.then streets were not matching up.i kept the permit and will try trip planning it again when I have time to relax and not rush.cke, CAXPT, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this.

I kept the permit and route plan.i had originally started checking it against atlas and streets. And directions weren't matching up.i kept the permit and route and will go over it again when I have time to do it at my leisure.i don't think my trainer let me down.he saw me struggling and figured we could go over it later

I use inroute also. Unless it's a route we run often, which happens alot.
-
Wow i did that for years. But finally moved up to the 21st century and as i posted use inroute. We may have two or three loads going to the same place on different days , being we run annual's in some states we can send it to the next truck.

It’s these type situations that give me the A Hole reputation and I am not trying to be an A Hole. But I am reading your responses and this is what I see:
You’re rushing. What @CAXPT said should have been the first thing your trainer said to you when he saw you struggling with the OSOW routing. But he didn’t say that, did he?
I also notice that in your response, you didn’t say anything to any of the guys that told you how they do their routing.
Anyway, I will back out of your thread and let you vent your frustrations in peace. Six back quiet. -
If being conscientious is being an A Hole, put me on the roster.

01HFT, James j, Albertaflatbed and 2 others Thank this. -
I am sorry if I came off as venting.the advice everyone gave was excellent.i thought hitting the thank button for each reply signified my appreciation for their input.i have learned a lot the last couple years of reading this forum and am sure I will continue learning more.hopefully if anyone feels ignored or unappreciated they realize it was accidental.thanks allCAXPT, blairandgretchen and kemosabi49 Thank this.
