    It says this much: To establish Post Offices and Post Roads;

    It doesn't say thou shall massively over-pay employees and with the force of govt take from taxpayers to encourage multi-$Billion losses from year to year. Like I said, no private-sector company could pay what you're making for the underwhelming amount of work you do.

    You would have a cow over a guy I know then.

    Retired from the military after 20 years.
    Got on with the Post Office and got their benefits and retirement.
    Plus draws social security.

    That's why it bothers me when Ghost Ryder comes on here bragging about how good he has it. Of course he does; the Post Office doesn't have to run themselves like a private-sector business, as in do what it takes to stay in business. $100k+ per year isn't out of the question for a person with a few years under his belt and very little responsibility other than to show up. Yeah, it's gravy. But it's pretty exclusive gravy these days.

    I'm not bragging. I'm stating that these higher paying employers do exist.

    Live loaded and was not hourly, Local flat bed dedicated run ( day cab ) out of a union steel mills. 42 miles round trip x 5 runs, Wished it was hourly. 6 days a week 14 hour days. 4 miles company was from home. Not worth the $180 a day. So many wasted hours. Someone definitely screwed the pig for hourly.I'd like to find that person and pee on him. ( former job )

    There are private sector businesses that pay those kind of wages. There are non-union companies that are private sector that pay those kind of wages. I work at one. The company posted a $3.65 billion profit in 2012 so I'd say a private sector company can pay that.

    Anyways, back to the OP, I know when I had a local job in CA we received OT pay over 40 hours. For a non-trucking job in CA an employer must pay OT for anything over 8 hours in a day and anything over 40 hours. I only received pay for over 40 hours with a trucking job so the same OT laws may not apply. That doesn't necessarily mean anything either though as many normal jobs don't pay OT in that way even though it's the law.

    We had to follow a 30 minute lunch law CA had. You'd think if you had to follow one CA labor law you'd have to follow another but like Ghost Ryder said, the trucking industry is exempt from it by federal law. An intrastate company could be different possibly.

    That was a pretty nice job other than the instability of it. For quite awhile you could pretty much bank on sleeping 80% of your day at work and getting paid by the hour. That was doing the job as well, not screwing off. Even had sleeper trucks for the local work so you slept at work, and were awake at home.
