That would probably suffice. What states are you running through Allan?

DO NOT USE BEACONS in California or Nevada. You need an amber light permit in Nevada and can not have any amber light on your truck or load in California. Arizona does not require flags on the front of the truck like New Mexico does. New Mexico will cite you if your sign flaps in the wind and can't be read at all times.

Im guessing that since you rarely do oversize, you are probably not very big. If you need escorts, use locals in every state or region you travel in. Local escorts know tricks that help in areas you are not familiar with. Many of them know what DOT are looking for in the area. Most of the escorts I use do loads that are escorted by Highway Patrol so they know (and hopefully are friendly with) DOT in the area.

    Il, ia, mn, nd, mb.

Pulled across a scale and didn't get arrested so I must be doing something right. Ended up loading my load leveler with the banner. Can't do anything else as the plate is in the middle if where the sign would go and its inset. I will get a flipping licence plate holder for the front.

So to cover all states the signs need to be 18x96 and reflective?

Out of my area so I won't be much help.

I have only ever seen one reflective banner in my life. ON requires them for night travel also...up to 10 wide on multi-lane highways is allowed if you have a reflective banner AND RED LIGHTS on the extremities of the load...basically lights replace flags. Are you sure MN doesn't want wide load lights for night travel also?

Those reflective banners are expensive. SD,IA,MN and WI. I bought a pair years ago back when they were $130 each. I've seen those things go for around $180 each now. Right after I bought mine, I was at the Roadranger in Waterloo when I saw a 379 with this polished piece of diamond plate over the front of his Texas bumper, held on by hood pins. Looked good. On the other side, you guessed it, a reflective OD sign. I looked into it...you can get custom metal signs made for not much more than what you'd pay for those reflective banners. I've been meaning to talk to some of my guys and see if they would be interested in trying to negotiate a group buy.

CA will alow you to run a beacon light, they just do not reconize it as a safety device and it does not comply with the night-time lighting laws.

AZ does require flags on the front of the truck. Not sure if it just started or what, but my last 2 trips thru San Simon got me in trouble for not having flags on the front of the truck. both times they made me go insode and the inspectiong officer told me to put the flags on the front of the truck and rear of trailer... so i dunno.

A Lot of states wont let you pull an oversize load at night so you might want to check each states requirements. Another thing Ga wouldn't use to let you pull oversize loads in the fog either. They may have changed? Another thing, if you have a permit to haul say 125,000 and you are over that, you will be charged back to 80,000 lbs in some states. My point is, check with the states you run in, don't think any of them have a uniform set standard for oversize loads.

Triplesx, the sign shop in Cloud that does the signs for ATS had some Reflective signs made up several years back for ATS. Check with them..

Wrong, unless they recently changed it. I have been pulled over for not having my strobes covered over! They certainly do NOT want them on when under a load, only the escort if applicable.
Il is daytime only. Ia is up to 11' wide for night moves, just light the load up front and rear. Mn will allow night time travel, but need either reflective or illuminated signs and lights every 20' down the side. Sd is good too, if you have the signs. So on and so forth.
I always flag the truck and trailer regardless for OD loads, but I have quick connect flags so it takes about 20 seconds. My front plate is mounted to the grill, and the sign goes on my Herd bumper. The rear tag is mounted to the rear of trailer above bumper level, so no issue there neither.

It went very well except one problem. I missed a turn in Minnesota. WB 55 turn north on 24. There's an extremely small sign in the middle of the block with an up and a right arrow, but that's it. I thought it was at the light, but it wasn't. Still don't know where 24 is. Went 55 to 15 and it worked out fine. Not happy about it though.

I did somehow manage to get 7.3 MPG. I was running 66 half the time too.
