I always have both plates covered with the OD sign. Nothing else I can do except remove the plate and temp tie it somewhere or cut a hole in the sign.

You can run tx at night up to 10 feet wide interstate only and Ms at night under 10 feet and must use a strobe on the rear of the load in Ms. No night movmt in la and Al unless it is supersize with police escorts.SHC Thanks this. -
If you do enough oversize work, consider building (or having built) a sign that is a legal sized piece of flat aluminum with a pair of 2x2 pieces of square tube that fit in the holes where your tow hooks go in the front. Make slots in the back of the sign so that when you insert the 2x2's in the two holes in front of the truck, you then slide the sign down into the 2x2's. Put a hinge in the center of the sign vertically so that it can be folded in half to only be 4 feet wide by 18 inches tall when not in use. You can break it down enough that it will fit under your bunk in most trucks. I pay about $300 for everything including reflective vinyl for the entire thing (doing all my own work except the vinyl).

I think alot of it is if they wanna nit pick you or not.
I know Or. and Wa. Will bang you for covered plates.SHC Thanks this. -
I will correct myself here. On wide loads in Texas there are NO requirements for the truck and trailer to have oversize signs. Only flags at corners of load and widest part of load. They are only required on the escort vehicle if wide enough to require an escort. 14 foot is when you need an escort.
SHC Thanks this.
