No go. NY is 53ft max length for the trailer/load without permits. If it's a single piece you can permit it. The chances you actually get checked are pretty slim. Just throw a flag on the rear overhang and you would probably be fine though it would not be legal.
Yeah that's how you get a ticket in ny lol @Razororange had the most correct answer I saw. Where/how far you're going in ny will also make a big difference. Couple miles in over the line with no scales, prolly not a issue- cross the state and hit a bunch of scales and checkpoints... might find you in a tight spot.

It might not even be close but that is what we did in our day. To wit no one has ever pulled me over for overlength the way we did it with flag and banner. I don't and am not up to date with current permit over length etc requirements. All I can do is share what we did in our day.
Blanket statements are dangerous, it depends on the state. Ohio its 53’ load or trailer so front overhang does count and it sounds like New York is the same way.
No more than 5' total, making it a 53' "trailer". Beyond that, you are getting into overlength territory. And more than 3' off the back should be flagged.
we regularly haul 60+65 ft on a 48. upstate, through the Lincoln tunnel into manhattan, and to long island . no permits required just marker lights on the end of load as long as the load doesn't exceed 70 ft and is 1 piece lengths
