Overhang on a 48' trailer Question

    You can overhang the ends of a flatbed in a lot of states and not be oversized. Load 60ft material on a 53 out west and as long as you’re under 4ft overhang off the back you don’t even have to hang lights, only flag the corners.

    most states you can overhang quite a bit with no permits.
    I used to haul 60 foot beams on a 48 daily from Pa into New York city right through the Lincoln tunnel had a 2.5 foot front overhang.
    only stopped a few times because they questioned axle weight
    70 foot loads are legal as long as it is 1 continuous piece.
    all we did was put marker lights on the back.
    Connecticut there could be 0 overhang without a permit
