Some states you aren't allowed any overhang period on a 53 foot trailer with out a permit.

You cannot overhang in some states.
I examined several of your states and it's unfortunate that the information I ran into did not specifically talk about overhanging freight. But from my flatbed days, if it overhung the end of the decking it's oversize and depends on where you are, where you are going etc. involving permits.
You company should have a person that does nothing but permits. That person should be able to assist you.
Your particular situation overhanging the front creates a dangerous problem when turning. You would literally have to think your tractor is about 3 foot wider in order to clear that front of your trailer. It would have been better to overhang the back of your deck and have the 5th wheel in normal position for weight purposes. -
Ohio you will for sure.

Indiana requires a permit for ANYTHIG over 53'. Illinois doesn't seem to care if it's not hanging over the BACK of a 53' trailer. If it's over the front and not over 90' total seems to be good in Illinois.
cke Thanks this. -
