There is limited quantity of gliders can be ordered annually . I called end of February several dealers and glider builders and all confirmed this year you will not get , call us in august august when we will be making new customers list
I did find just one available ( customer backed up ) , good luck finding one .
Other option to have glider is just get a truck and throw in pre 2000 engine -
They will spec it out tomorrow for you but earliest you see it probably end of the year ...stop believing everything you hear dealer telling
-
I just reread that and it does read that way; I intended to say that the 3 rings (2 compression and 1 oil) do rotate but the oil control ring maintains its gap within itself as it rotates; my bad.Bean Jr. and spsauerland Thank this.

There is always a delay in getting a truck delivered. That has nothing to do with it being a glider or not and everything to do with how many orders have been placed. I went to spec a new trailer last year and they were estimating 10 months out, does that mean they are only allowed to sell 300 stepdecks a year?Bean Jr. Thanks this.

The small business loophole is way tougher than one would think. Here is startup form.

No it does not , its just crazy demand
Call your pete dealer tomorrow to verify when the glider will be ready to pick up mr knowEverything ! -
I never said it did, I said incorrect ring gaps cause excessive oil consumption and they do; I also said that no "ring seating" is improved by using a dyno on a new engine and that is true also.
I will now say that no clearances are altered after assembly beyond the wear that takes place over many hours of operation, I left that part of your quote out but the notion is ridiculous.
And race engines use entirely different types of rings, they are designed to last a very short time and seat completely almost immediately; using NASCAR as a guide to determine how to best operate a class 8 diesel truck engine is ridiculous as well. -
That is interesting, being in California the glider option was never an option for me but I didn't know that the EPA had to approve each application; I wonder how many they deny without a legitimate reason?Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Oil consumption is caused by bad rings. Not rotation.
As for break in. The one cat engine I drove that got a new piston kit. Took a 10 mile test drive and back. Mechanics wanted to make sure engine ran good. Hooked up pup trailer and went to work pulling 100k.
The one new FL I got. Bobtailed 2 miles to new trailer. Deadhead 15 miles for it's first load and went to work.
The first 2000 miles sucked with 18 brand new tires.Last edited: May 16, 2019
