the first company i worked for. i hauled 2 utility box type trailers. that put me 14 feet high. on a 48 flat. boss told me i couldn't haul over 13.6 in the east but once i got to nebraska. i could legally go 14 feet.

those 2 trailers went from iowa somewhere to sacramento cali.

You are correct EXCEPT for AZ, which still has a 13'6" height rule. I found that out last year when hauling that draper head, it was 13'9" tall and was sitting on a trailer. They said since the load was divisible, my 14' permit could not be issued. But the lady told me I could get a 13'6" permit and do whatever since she want going to measure it. I only traveled 12 miles thru AZ on I-15 with 0 bridges so I just went with it.

me personally i try and stay under14'6" overall hieght, anything higher gets expensive with polecars and special routing. todays rates arent worth it most of the time. Now as far as wide gaurdrail to gaurd rail works for me

That's what I though as well, but here's what I was given...

"28-1094. Vehicle height; exceptions; special permits

    A. Without a permit issued under section 28-1103 or this section, a vehicle unladen or with a load shall not exceed a height of thirteen feet six inches above the level surface on which the vehicle stands."

the Rand McNally also lists it at 13'6" statutory height.

Your right, they changed it a few years ago. They make the carriers with 14' boxes get an annual. We run annual width and height permits there for 14' w X 16' h.
