Over width Versus Over height Personally I will take OW any day just hauled 16 wide 13 tall no issues 2 escorts 695 miles @ 14.00 per mile plus escorts, and permits.. Not including detention time waiting for crane to offload..
OH loads can be a major pain in the wallet, Especially if you come out east Many states require route surveys, And these can be risky if you don't deal with escort companys all the time hiring one to do the survey you never know what you are going to get.. The company I work for we have 8 of our own escorts and ALL of them do things different..
We had two 17 foot loads from Charleston SC to Norfolk to NIT port.. 3 days and NIGHT time only travel power company, and city folks to move lights etc... The loads paid very good.. Just a HUGE pain to deal with.. Doing this as an O/O could prove to be a challenge having a company with an office full of people who handle this all the time it still proved to be a challenge.. The owner was with the drivers every step of the way due to the HIGH risk involved.. And Insurance on these loads is a lot different than standard freight insurance.. Bonding and 10 million liability is not uncommon.. On the particular load the insurance company had a rep onsite during the moves..
