Overnight parking with Hazmat load

I remember that one!

Driving past the next day while the PA state troopers were shooting the snakes withering around the crater, the rocket fuel truck pulled over in the parking lot of the Pocono Snake Farm.

One lane of Rt 209 was two feet higher than the other.

Going to camp driving past the marshalls creek firehouse with the flattened fire engine sitting there...

 

Did you know at the time what a game changing incident that explosion would be?

 

I was 6. we rode up to make sure the cabin was still intact. Circled around to ride past the scene on the way home.

I do remember seeing the empty old wood frame hotel a few blocks away with the second floor cleanly blown off and sitting behind the first floor and all the modern tourist trap buildings with no glass.

Going to the cabin we dove past the Marshalls Creek fire house with the donated engine from Easton [my home town] and the pancaked remains of their fire apparatus..

The black bunting draped on the firehouse was up for years.

It did leave a memory..
