Hello,
I wanted to gauge interest in a small rest stop where truckers could rent a room for a few hours, get a couple hours of sleep, and get back on the road. The rest stop would have various snacks, but they would be very inexpensive. It would cost less for a room than a big-name motel on the grounds of a large truck stop.
The rooms would most likely be priced in 3-hour increments. It would be about $15 for 3 hours, or $25 for 6. The bed sheets and pillow cases would be provided, and you would get a small single room to get some shut-eye.
Does this sound like something you would be interested in?

There used to be truckstops that had sleeping rooms available. I have no idea how much they cost back then compared to a motel.
Getsinyourblood and TruckerJohn75 Thank this. -

Decent motels can be had for under $50 including taxes a night shower, cable, etc provided. I don't see sleeping rooms going over well. You will have to charge all the same taxes as a hotel.
Metalicious Thanks this. -
Good luck on your plans Sir -

With current diesel prices you can idle the truck for less per hour. Then add trucks that have APU already and it's even less. Plus with ELDs coming for everyone the only resting time options will really be 8 or 10 hours. Driver are cheap and so are companies. Look at Idle Air, the even had government help and still failed. Technical they are still going but only in couple locations and they had heat and a/c in the truck stop parking lot for trucks. Idle Air had people complain about smokers and the system smelling. They got a lot of grant money from government to get going and still failed. Not many us them today if you even find one still open and running.
