Oversize and wide loads

LOL! Most of those are outlaws. At least in TX. They just hang on whatever they found on road or stole.

 

Oh those toater drivers..........that's a whole nother breed of truckers. Similar to Carney truckers? Not there's anything wrong with that.

 

See that's what is really messed up. States vary so much it's hard to keep up. Out west a set of triples do not display any oversize banners. I hauled over size loads all over the states and I can tell you it's a big pain in the rear when you're up against the limit.

I had a three axle lowboy and had a Cat D-8L that I moved from Ohio to Utah. I loaded in Ohio and got it ready to go. I went to the local cat scales and was ok for Ohio. I got into Indiana and pulled into the scale and was too heavy on the set of triple axles on the trailer. They let me go around and fix it. But to fix it I had to unchain, untape the stack, move the dozer a couple of inches forward, then rechain, tape the stack back closed and go get weighed. I did that three times until it was right.

I go on down the road into Illinois and I'm too heavy on my triple axles on the trailer. When I got out west the laws are relaxed and I had no worries, but the states should try to be the same. I was active duty Navy with a Ryder rental tractor and I finnally got smart and place our base decal over the big Ryder sign on the door and never got called in after that. I got green lights in every scale house from then on.
