I would never work fot anyone that used a 1099. I would never work for anyone that didn't offer benefits.

Benefits are easily worth .02-.03 a mile.

You have to plan for your retirement and start while you are young. Otherwise you'll have a hard time when you get older.

.35-.36 is about right for 3 years pulling normal freight, but with benefits. The hiding from taxes and treating you like you're not an employee tells me he's a shady character. Like the kind that will easily screw you out of a payday.

It won't be long, health insurance will be mandatory. I'd rather have an employer paying half of it.

Definitely on the wrong end of that deal. "Normal Freight" with as a company driver starts about there, doing oversize is much more. Last oversize I ran, no pilot, paid me .88 per mile on 450 miles.

Now go find another outfit to run for. Your worth more and there are lots of jobs with more reputable companies.

The rectal fornication you're receiving is painful...so much so I can almost feel it from here!

If you're disciplined, go off on your own and O/O. Buy a tractor and lease on with a company and work for yourself. I saw one of our OD loads today grossing $34,000, something like $12.50 per mile. I'm sure the permitting and stuff is expensive as it was 125,000lbs. But none-the-less, it's probably better than .35cpm by far.

They just showed this on the morning news about Shippers Transport paying drivers as 1099 contractors.
The US Department of Labor is busting down on these companies and just hired 300 extra investigators for this problem.
I think a couple phone calls would be a good idea!

it is illegal to pay a driver 1099 unless you pay atleast the fuel expensies of the the truck and have a lease agreement with them. if you are a employee then its illegal. my employer started out paying me 1099 till he realized it was illegal and then we switched to withholding and went back on the checks i had already recived and withheld out of thoughs as well.
