I have seen it enforced in PA and OH, if you are overweight in IL you can go to a TS but don't cross a bridge going over the interstate, one of our trucks got busted crossing I 39 to get to the Petro, very expensive.

This is nothing new for Ohio. They been enforcing it for some time now. I've never been bothered knock on wood but my cousin did getting off for the ta in Lodi. After all was said and done over 10k in fines

What this is, is simply ways for states to raise state revenues. It's all about $$$$$

Your correct. It's not new for OH, you CAN get off for food/fuel you just have to put the stops on the permits. I know guys who put every available fuel stop on the permit route so they can stop wherever they wish, as long as the stop is on an approved permit road. There is/was a sheriff here locally that loved to bust OW permit trucks for stopping at the truck stop in his county.

All I do are super loads. I travel alot through Ohio with State police escorts. Some of them are really decent and will put you in a truck stop for safety. Others are real jerks and follow the permit to the fullest extent. There is no "common sense" anymore! It's all a big game anymore with high penalties for losing. All you can do is read your permits word for word and try to do the best you can. The states have discovered that permit loads are cash cows and are going to take advantage of everything they can. I've been doing this for 28 years and have many horror stories about permit loads.

Thanks for the information and have heard this many times, never had any issues with it or been stopped. When I hauled super loads out of the port of Baltimore we always had police escorts in Maryland to the state line and Pa state troopers would pick up.

I think the main issues are with bridges or getting trapped somewhere you cannot get out of.

We run on blanket permits from VA to FL, AL and LA. As long as your not on a restricted route everythings good. Single trip permits are allways more restrictive and typically a big pain in the arse.
