it has been like that for years in ohio they just started to really enforce it about 2 years ago. just another way to generate revenue. but really it is directed toward heavy loads going over bridges and roads that are not able to handle the weight. you can get more than one stop on your permit if you insist.

More and more states are enforcing the letter of the law instead of the spirit. Another example of government being out of sync with reality.

I love my FL and GA blanket permits as well. It makes OD so much easier.

And I remember all the trucker's laughing on the CB's that they couldn't touch us now that Ohio changed the speed limit to 65.... I warned them, there's more DOT regulations for them to enforce and they were studying up. I was right. Got to talking to a Buckeye State Cop about bridge laws, and he told me "we just started doing this"..... and proceeded to tell me about some poor guy they popped overweight who was good on steers, drive and trailer, but....in violation of the bridge law.

Maybe a good dose of reality for them would be shutting down in the middle of the interstate so you can walk a mile or so to the crapper.

Another piece of advice for Ohio. If you have a crated oversize load, make sure your permit specifies thatit's Crated __________... The county Sheriff who sits just north of Cincinnati on 75 has been writing tickets like crazy. Because of permits not specifying the load is crated.

Also i might add the Arizona permits say 55mph and they mean it. They are giving zero tolerance to OD loads lately. A few guys at the Co. I am leased too have been popped for doing 57-59mph. I felt bad for the one guy because thats all the faster he ever drives anywhere he is.

    CAXPT Thanks this.

The rest area on I 70 in West Virginia has a stipulation on your permits stating parking overnight or staging will receive a citation.
