I use The pemit company CA office. On LS online you can go to info, Heavy & Specialized Services Informationand see a list of approved permit companies, they all work on LS credit. Same with escorts, check approved list and use LS credit.
Keep a copy of your Arkansas permit and if you need one in a hurry you can call the number on the permit and use the permit number so thay can pull up your truck info, pay by credit card and get it faxed or emailed before you hang up. Same with VA. Let the permit load auditors know and you get 100% of you money back.

You can call HH and ask for a Mississippi blanket and they will fax you one at no charge, good for 12 wide, no weight.

Here's my opinion! You are leased to Landstar use their people. That way all the paperwork is in house. I'm sure they know what they are doing and they do not want to delay your delivery in any way. You get held up by some independent service and maybe the Agent doesn't like that. No more 10' wide loads to Az. If Landstars people hold you up what can the agent say. As far as NM and AZ permits i would buy them at the Port of Entry just so you get a feel how the process goes. Good experience, gives you added knowlege for the future.

There are several states that offer annual blanket permits and don't charge too much for them. If you haul several loads a year through those states you could save money by purchasing the annual permit. Some are just for width, others will also include weight at the same or higher rate. The catch is that you are usually restricted to a maximum width, height or weight and some will restrict the type of freight you haul, such as construction equipment. If you fall outside of those restrictions then you will still need to buy a permit for the load.

First off they are not "LS's people" they are Comdata employees with a office at LS. Many times I have loaded and left a customer while the driver that used the inhouse permit company is still waiting for their permit.

It is always nice to stand in line for 30 minutes at the San Jon port than to just show the permit at the window. I'll spend $15 to save the pleaser of listening to a driver cry about paying NM because they did not put them on their prorated tag, or wait at Sanders while the POE lady finishes a 15 min personal call on her cell phone, and is rude because you caused her to do work.

Just trying to help SHC, I have worked under the LS system over 19 years and could give him lots of help someday when he is buying the coffee.

I'd just like you to join the private LS group and use your knowledge there. Hell I'll mail you a box of coffee!:biggrin_25523:

Some states with a blanket permit with size and weights limits, will allow you to what I call add on to that permit.
Tn. Will let you add on to their blanket permit,. You just pay the extra permit fee for the add on.
Helps save money in the long run if you are running through there often. Blanket permit with them is 1000.00. Tx. is now like 4000.00

I think I am just going to use Comdata for this trip, I have gotten a direct contact for them at the Rockford office and was told they do the best work there. We shall see

Those figures I gave also included weight.
I also have Ks /Co/ Sd.
    I
a does me no good as I'm over 100' even mty, so the blanket for me would be a waste of money.
    Good luck in your trip.
Watch out for the weather going through

unless you haul a great deal of oversize , a blanket permit may not pay for itself.

i had blanket permits when i hauled oversize mods and mobile homes. but i might pull one once a month now. back then i would have 8 trucks leave out every monday anf then return and leave couple times a week, a blanket was well worth it for each truck.

it seems as if shc will do this only every now and again.
