In TN you don't cross the scale, just go to the back and take your permit inside, no matter what the light says. Same in GA

Well, thanks for all the helpful info. got it all loaded up today and am at the KY/TN line waiting for sunrise....... have all my permits in hand and ready to go. Only place that routed me OOR was AR since they are doing that road work on I40. Just sending me up to US64 which is the way I was gonna go anyways to bypass the traffic jam. So all is good.

I will stop at each open scale, as I rememebred that in the pre-pass lit they send with the unit it states that all permitted loads must go into the scales regardless of in-cab signals. No big deal tho

Half of those phone numbers in there no longer work! I would even bet that some of the laws have even change.

Your not supposed to run at night. Supposed to be parked 30 min after the sun sets, and can start back up after 30 min before the sun rises. If you know the area that your running like me, you can get away with running at night, it will only hang off a few inchs each side off a 102 trailer.

If you move an oversized load in violation of your permit, you are taking a very big risk. If you are caught you will pay a very big fine. If you are involved in an accident, regardless of fault, you will receive a very big fine and could be held liable for the accident just because you were not supposed to on the road at the time. I find it much better to follow the rules. If you can't or don't want to follow the rules then don't haul oversized freight. The risks are too great for any perceived benefits.

Sound advice and the truth, people that want to run outlaw with all the rules just makes it more difficult to run legal.

I used to pull superwagon, it was overweight empty and still had to run legal no matter what since if someone hit me it was all over.
