Quebec is the same. And it can't be any old 360 degree light either, like the one bought at the truck stop in Ontario. No sir, it must be CSA approved.

UL lights should be fine. The first guys got caught and let the guys in the next wave know, so we purchased Road-Pro 12v rotating beacons at the Petro-Pass in Cochrane, ON, as a temporary solution. Some snuck through with those, but any that got stopped weren't accepted either.
We all had trailer strobes that were fine in BC, AB, SK, MB and ON. C'est la vie...Last edited: May 31, 2015
rank Thanks this. -
How are you supposed to get a 360 degree light

There were several trips as there was something like 125 shacks that had to be moved. The routing wasn't up to us, I think a lot of it was due to construction, but it was for sure a really, really screwed up deal. The most convoluted routing I have ever seen. It didn't help that the work was spread out over about a half-dozen companies with drivers of varying competence. Lots of lines pulled down, pilots that were less than competent, etc. At one point I figured my little group was in trouble when our pilot had to stop and ask for directions... twice as we're driving right down main street through the middle of some little community just north of Montreal. Of course he didn't speak English and I don't speak French, so that made for interesting times. We had a lot of trouble getting permits in time in ON and then each trip QC would be different due to changing conditions. -
Wow. Today is my day. I can comment on two topics I have looked into seriously. This one and gloves.
First off. What type of truck. Low rise or Hi Rise.
I ask because I have a Hi Rise Volvo and just finished creating an adjustable strobe mount on my truck this weekend. I mounted a single strobe to allow me to just haul minimum oversize loads. My next project is to create a mount for 2 strobes.
I looked into the strobe bars.
Here's a few questions.
How much money you wish to spend.
How tall is you truck
Is there space on the headache rack
do you need work lights.
Will the strobe be seen 360 Degrees??
If you get a large 48" light bar, do you have enough amps to run the light bar in 2 cases.
1 does your altinator produce enough power to sustain the light bar in full motion. + work lights
2 Can your batteries handle the light bar if the truck isn't running.
Look into the power consumption. Important.
Some light bars might require you to up the size of your altinator. I looked into this big time.
For a good quality light bar with rear work lights can run $1000 and more.. I think Whelen has a 2+ week build time. Unless you get one from Iowa 80. They have a few on the show room floor. The problem with a high rise truck and the headache rack sit getting the light bar high enough to be seen from the front of the truck. No to mention, not exceeding the 13'6" hight Low rise trucks, no problem.
There are several brands out there. Are you planning to run in Canada. Are you planning to run in California?? Are you planning to run in Oregon/Washington. These are the states/countries that i notice
have issues with certain sizes, strobe patterns. Caifornia Title 13. Look into that.
Most people I have talked to state most/all states don't really care about their laws so long as you have strobes. Oregon, wants strobes to be seen 1000 feet away. California has title 13. Canada I think was the old fashion circular pattern for their strobes.
Mfg. Whelen, Star. These two seem to be high quality producers of strobes. Look into what they have.
Look into how to change the strobe patterns as well.Travelinman and tsavory Thank this. -
My head just exploded.

Hi folks. Kinda got lost in the conversation. Are we talking about the strobes on the truck or trailer being CSA approved??
