Look at you go, big rigger! Just messin' with ya man, good luck on your first oversize and that looks to me like some really gravy freight so if you do well your first trip maybe you can get more of it?

Yeah I'm hoping so. I want to get as much oversize experience as I can since the company I'm thinking about moving to will definitely like that.
This definitely gives me an insight on what I should be doing and what to expect when pulling oversize. All of y'all have helped me more than you know. I was nervous at first, but now that I know I have everything I need, all that's left to do is get'r on down the road safely.

You are hauling a feller buncher. http://www.cat.com/cda/layout?m=465858&x=7 It is used for felling trees. A log skidder would have a large grapple or cable coming out of the back. http://www.cat.com/equipment/skidders/wheel-skidders It is used to pull trees from the woods to the collection area.
I thought you said you did not have an IL permit. I was pointing out that you could get a permit at any because your overall height is under 13'6".
You are correct, if your permit says you are 13'8" you will have to follow the restrictions for that size load.SHC and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Oh okay, thank you for the info.
Yeah I had the permit, just lacked the provisions.

No matter how many times you haul the same style of unit. Meassure Measure Measure...
Things can change...
If it has a hyd. unit that raises and lowers make sure it can not come up, even more when the safety system has been bypassedDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Thanks. I'm glad I ended up measuring, now I know exactly what I'm at. I'll still be cautious, just not nervous when coming up to bridges
Ethan -
All I can say is be cautious of the width in construction zones and on the lower bridges most will have the sign where the lowest point is. Its easier running down there then it is headed to the North east area of the us where it seems like nothing has been changed since the colonial days. Follow your permits and you will be just fine.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Thanks. Yeah I went through construction today, those lanes slim down a lot more it seems
Ethan -
Also forgot to say with the provisions sheet and Illinois even if you get the bypass lane on the first scale on 80 from Iowa you have to stop and take your permit in but make sure you paper clip the provisions sheet to the permit. I know Illinois and Ohio require them to be "attached" to the permit and its as easy as a paperclip so you dont have a crap ton of staple holes in it.
Just a little FYIDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Thanks, I didn't know that. Will they give me the red light to pull over or just have a guy come out to tell me to pull up and bring the paperwork in?
It would be my first encounter with DOT in Illinois lol
